FAQs
How long does a custom order take?
Since everything is handmade, production will take at least 10 days after the order is confirmed. We will do our best to deliver your order as quickly as possible, but depending on the availability of materials, production may take longer than initially planned. Thank you for your understanding.
Will I receive the same item as the sample photo on the website?
Due to the natural materials used, each item has its own unique grain and color. We will do our best to meet your specific requests by selecting materials and sending you photos for confirmation before production. However, please understand that the colors may differ slightly between the photos and the actual item.
Are all the bachi made to uniform specifications like typical bachi?
All bachi are handcrafted by our artisan, Greg. Unlike products created using AI machines or molds that offer uniformity, each Ainoco bachi has its own character, which is one of its defining features.
Can you create something not listed in the estimate?
We may be able to create items that aren’t specifically mentioned. Feel free to unleash your imagination and make any requests!
Can I cancel, request a refund, or change my order?
All orders begin with an estimate, and you will confirm the specifications before placing an order. Changes are possible until the specifications are finalized and payment is made. However, once production has started, we cannot accommodate cancellations, refunds, or changes.
What will the total payment amount be?
All orders begin with an estimate, and you will confirm the specifications before placing an order. Changes are possible until the specifications are finalized and payment is made. However, once production has started, we cannot accommodate cancellations, refunds, or changes.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments via bank transfer or credit card. Once your order details are confirmed, we will send you a billing email.
Is there a sales tax?
In the US, sales tax will be applied based on the recipient's location. If the order is shipped to a country outside the US, sales tax will not apply.
How much is shipping? Will it arrive safely?
We primarily use a trackable shipping service. Once shipped, we will provide you with a tracking number. Shipping costs vary by region, but generally within the US, it starts at $10 (USPS Priority Mail), $30 for Canada (USPS Priority Mail), and approximately $20 for Japan (Yamato Transport). You can also pick up your order at our Ainoco office located in Irvine, California.
Will there be customs duties?
Depending on your country, customs duties may apply upon receipt. Please handle any payments necessary for customs duties according to your local regulations.
What is the credit card fee, and how much is it?
For security reasons, we process payments through a credit card company. The fee is the amount paid to the credit card company: 3% for domestic transactions in the US and 5% for international transactions.
How well does the Ainoco bachi match with shamisen covered in synthetic skin?
It has been noted that shamisen with synthetic skin can have a harsh sound, limited tonal range, and lack of resonance. However, using the Ainoco bachi made from acrylic material softens the sharp, piercing tones typically produced by a tortoiseshell bachi, resulting in a sound closer to that of dog skin. This has received positive feedback from professional players.
